Good weather fills Crystal Mtn ski resort

CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN, Wash. (AP) — Crystal Mountain ski resort is turning people away because so many want to take advantage of fresh snow and clear skies.

Mountain manager Scott Bowen tells The Seattle Times that the area’s 3,000-car parking lot was full before noon Thursday. Staffers were stationed at the turnoff to the ski area near Mount Rainier to tell people the resort was full and offering free day passes to ease the disappointment.

Other Cascade ski areas also are having good days because of the storm that dumped nearly a foot of new snow in the past two days. Mount Baker spokeswoman Gwyn Howat says it’s “comfortably busy,” but still has room on the slopes.
