VANCOUVER — The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington has received grants worth $25,000 from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington. The money will help the clinic provide ongoing free oral health care to children from low-income families in Clark County and surrounding communities, and to assist with the clinic’s annual Children’s Dental Health Day.

The grants are made possible by proceeds from donation boxes at local McDonald’s restaurants and matching funds from RMHC global.

The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington provides health care to children and adults who are otherwise have no access to health care. More than 600 volunteer professionals provide free medical, dental, vision and specialty care services. In 2009, there were nearly 11,000 patient visits to its medical and dental programs — a 24 percent increase from 2008. The Free Clinic receives no taxpayer funding.
