McLemore’s 24 lead CS Northridge by UC Davis 87-81

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) — Rashaun McLemore scored 24 points as Cal State Northridge defeated UC Davis 87-81 on Thursday night.

Lenny Daniel had his sixth double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Matadors (4-9, 1-1 Big West), who ended a three-game losing streak. Vinnie McGhee and Raymond Cody scored 13 each.

Ryan Sypkens set career highs with five 3-pointers and 19 points for the Aggies (6-8, 1-1). Mark Payne also scored 19, Joe Harden 16 and Eddie Miller 11.

Northridge shot 53.4 percent (31 of 58), but UC Davis wasn’t far behind at 51.0 percent (25 of 49).

Cody’s 3-pointer just before the buzzer put Northridge ahead 42-41 at halftime, and his three-point play with 12:12 left pushed it to double figures at 56-46.

Daniel’s basket with 7:52 left increased the lead to 71-55. UC Davis closed within five twice in the final 1:38, but the Aggies got no closer.
