A C-Tran bus driver suffered a bloody nose when she was slapped by a passenger during her route this morning.

The assault occurred near Jantzen Beach and the driver continued across the Interstate 5 bridge into Vancouver where the suspect was taken into custody at a stop near the intersection of E. 7th and Broadway Streets.

The suspect, a black male, who was wanted on outstanding felony warrant issued in Olympia, is currently lodged in the Clark County Jail.

“Since the incident happened in Portland, it’s their case,” said Kim Kapp, a Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman.

At some point today, Kapp said she expects Portland police to take custody of the suspect.

The circumstances surrounding the alleged attack remain unclear.

“We’re still out there interviewing witnesses,” Kapp said.
