Doug Ballou’s dream of a charitable foundation aimed at supporting the causes and needs of the Hazel Dell area is moving closer to reality.

The longtime Hazel Dell community organizer said at a recent neighborhood meeting that he’s eager to start a charitable organization that can funnel money to all kinds of underserved needs in Hazel Dell, from feeding the poor and building parks to hosting holiday parties.

He’s been seeking volunteers for a 21-member board of directors. Ballou has invited all interested parties to an organizational meeting of the Hazel Dell Community Foundation.

That meeting is 6 p.m. March 2 at the Clark County Public Works Operations Center, 4700 N.E. 78th St., hazel Dell. Please RSVP to Ballou at dballou@pacifier.com.
