YAKIMA — Emily Scott scored a career high 15 points, and made an 8-foot jumper with :01 left in overtime to lift the King’sWay/Seton Knights 33-31 consolation round win at the Girls 1B State Tournament in Yakima.

Scott was 5-11 from the field, including 2 of 3 from the 3-point line.

The senior’s 3-pointer with 1:01 left in regulation tied the game, and sent it to overtime, after the Knights trailed by 12 at halftime.

Freshman Edrienne Chan also scored 15 for the Knights.

Scott said the final play and the result was kind of a blur.

“I didn’t realize I had won the game until someone came up and said, ‘Oh my God, you won the game for us.” Scott said. “I thought we were behind.”

“We’ve worked hard, and it’s been a rough season, and now this is so much of a blessing to get this far,” Scott said of the Knights first-ever state tournament appearance, and first state tournament win.

The nail-biter came a day after a 64-point first round loss to the defending state champion Colton Wildcats.

“There was an article in the Yakima paper about how bad we were in that game,” Scott said of the Colton loss. “I just wanted to prove everybody wrong. I told our team to go out and prove them wrong.”

King’s Way/Seton (8-14) plays at 11:00 a.m. Friday against Neah Bay in the consolation bracket.
