Eight state champions, among 51 state placers, will be wrestling at Hudson’s Bay High School the next two days.

The Pacific Coast Wrestling Tournament, hosted by Evergreen’s wrestling program, will include seven teams from Clark County and 25 squads from throughout the Northwest. Wrestling will begin at 10 a.m. today and Saturday, with finals tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday.

The 125-pound weight class will feature two state champions. Efrain Aguilar of Class 4A Graham-Kapowsin and Drew Acorn of 2A Deer Park are the top seeds.

Other state champions scheduled to compete: Blake Adams of Deer Park at 119 pounds; Skylor Davis of Zilla at 130; Billy Rhoads of Deer Park at 140; Chris Castillo of Zillah at 152; Dylan Rutledge of Auburn at 171; and Shawn Burton of Deer Park at 285.

Clark County has two No. 2 seeds, led by Emilio Alcantar of Hudson’s Bay at 130 pounds. Alcantar was a state runner-up in 2009.

Clint Powers of Skyview is No. 2 at 119 pounds, Caleb Malychewski of Camas is second at 171, and Clint Coulter of Union is second at 189.

Camas, Evergreen, Heritage, Hudson’s Bay, Mountain View, Skyview, and Union are the Clark County teams in the field.

Arguably, this is the toughest wrestling tournament in the county every year. Last year, not a single Clark County athlete made it to finals.
