PREP ROUNDUP: Evergreen girls score league win

The Evergreen girls basketball team is getting used to winning this year, but Friday night’s victory was extra special.

Shamerica Scott had 15 points and nine rebounds, Justine Joudrey had 15 points and seven assists, and the Plainsmen beat Kelso 50-37 in the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League opener.

Yes, a league win for Evergreen (10-1), the first for the program in three years.

“They poured Gatorade on me,” Evergreen coach Jay Foreman said. “I got hit pretty good.”

Girls basketball

Skyview 54, Mountain View 20 — The Storm had no problems as they opened defense of their 4A Greater St. Helens League title with a 34-point victory.

Brooke Bowen with 12 points and Katie Swanson with 11 led Skyview’s balanced attack. Macy Mukensnabl had nine rebounds and Maddie Van Liew brought down eight boards.

Haley Holboke led Mountain View with 10 points.

Heritage 35, Battle Ground 20 — Tashawna Gordon scored 12 points as the Timberwolves (8-3) won their 4A GSHL opener.

Haley Grossman had six points, nine rebounds, five blocks and three steals for Battle Ground (6-5).

La Center 66, Kalama 38 — Hannah Trigg led four players in double-figure scoring as the Wildcats opened Trico league play. Trigg also had seven rebounds and six steals.

Boys basketball

La Center 58, Kalama 40 — Garret Davis scored 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting, and the Wildcats opened Trico League play with an easy win over Kalama. Kyle Kosak added 13 points for La Center, and Mick Jarvie had seven points and eight rebounds.
