A convenience store owner used his electronic Taser weapon during a fight with an alleged robber who grabbed him and demanded money Tuesday night, police said.

Officers arrested the suspected robber, Nathan Walker, 26, address unavailable, minutes after he allegedly managed to get loose from the store owner and flee with some cash, according to a bulletin from the Vancouver Police Department.

About 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Gian Singh, 53, was behind the counter of his Burton Market in the 8600 block of Northeast Burton road when Walker entered.

Police said Walker pulled his shirt over part of his face, walked behind the counter, grabbed Singh’s arm and demanded money from the cash register.

Singh then picked up his personal Taser and used it to shock Walker on the face and body, police said.

When Walker recovered from the high-voltage shock, he tried to punch Singh. They fought behind the counter and continued struggling in the parking lot, the bulletin said.

Police said Walker got loose from Singh, went inside, grabbed the cash register and carried it out to the parking lot.

Walker then allegedly grabbed some cash from the register and ran off.

He made it one block north before officers arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery, the bulletin said.

Walker didn’t have a weapon but used force, police said.

He and Singh suffered scrapes and bruises during the fight.
