NEW YORK (AP) — Mock-ups of waterfalls meant to evoke memories of the Sept. 11 dead are spilling down nearly 30 feet into a pool in Brooklyn.
The cascading effect of the waterfall designed by memorial architect Michael Arad (ah-RAHD’) was demonstrated to The Associated Press on Friday. Eventually the real thing will be at ground zero in lower Manhattan.
Builders have been tinkering with the mechanics of the design to ensure it runs smoothly when it opens by the 10th anniversary of the 2001 attacks. They need to test things like the flow and angle of the water.
