BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A state Republican Party leader who pleaded guilty in 4th District Court to charges of assault after he was accused of brandishing a gun completed community service earlier this month, according to court records.

Challis McAffee, a 33-year-old Idaho Republican Party Central Committee member and District 16 chairman, had been sentenced in December to five days in jail, one year of probation and anger management classes.

A withheld judgment would allow McAffee’s record to be cleared if he successfully completes conditions of his sentence.

Magistrate Judge Kevin Swain had dismissed a separate charge of using a deadly weapon in commission of a felony.

In August, a Meridian, Idaho, resident told police McAffee had threatened him with a .357 Magnum revolver he drew from the passenger side of his car.

At the time, McAffee was working for a company that was documenting homes where mortgages are delinquent.
