EASTON, Pa. (AP) — A man convicted of a triple murder in eastern Pennsylvania that authorities called a “gangland hit” has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after jurors deadlocked over whether he should be put to death.
Twenty-two-year-old Ali Elijah Davis of Freemansburg was sentenced Wednesday. He was convicted Monday in the November 2007 deaths of 19-year-old Aleah Hamlin, 23-year-old Chanel Armour and 21-year-old Alphe Rene.
Authorities say Rene was targeted in retaliation for earlier killings in New Jersey.
Defense attorney Brian Monahan pointed to his client’s age, background and lack of a significant prior record. The jury foreman told the judge that equal numbers of jurors supported each punishment, and at least one for each side could not be swayed.
