REDMOND, Ore. (AP) — It’s not exactly Las Vegas, but the small town of West Wendover, Nev., on the Utah border has quietly become a golf and gambling destination for some Central Oregonians.
Peppermill Casinos Inc. has been offering package deals, with flights to the West Wendover aboard chartered Boeing 737s, The trips, which take place about every seven weeks, often are full. People who ride the planes say they like the price — about $150 for airfare and a three-night stay. While the town on the edge of the Bonneville Salt Flats doesn’t have much diversity in entertainment, some say they like the small-town feel.
