SEATTLE (AP) — A railway spokesman says a freight train and a pickup truck have collided at a crossing north of Everett and the truck was dragged about a half-mile down the tracks.

Gus Melonas says no Burlington Northern Santa Fe crew members were hurt in the early morning accident and no one was found in the truck.

He says authorities are searching the immediate area for any occupants and an investigation is under way. He says it appears that the truck struck the side of the northbound train, and an empty tank car partially derailed.

The BNSF line, running from Everett to Canada, will be shut until midmorning Thursday. About 15 trains use that stretch of track daily.

He says the 38-car train was traveling 25 mph when it hit the pickup. He says there are no automatic warning devices at that crossing.
