OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) — Testimony in the faith healing trial of an Oregon City couple charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of their teenage son has ended on a dramatic note, with the boy’s mother crying on the witness stand.

Marci Beagley told prosecutors twice at the end of her testimony that she did not believe that her son was going to die.

Prosecutor Steve Mygrant asked her when does a parent take responsibility and step in after a child has been sick and vomiting for a week.

Beagley denied knowing that her 16-year-old son, Neil, was near death and repeated her belief that faith healing would ultimately make her son better.

Closing arguments are expected Friday, and the jury could get the case Friday afternoon.
