RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Doctors say they are pleased with the results of additional medical tests on Brazil’s president and that he is cleared to return to his regular activities following a bout of high blood pressure last week.
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was forced to cancel a trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday after experiencing hypertension. Dr. Roberto Kalil Filho says Silva recovered quickly after two days of rest at his home outside Sao Paulo.
The 64-year-old leader and his doctor spoke to reporters Saturday after exams at a Sao Paulo hospital that were described as being part of the president’s annual checkup. He then returned to the nation’s capital, Brasilia, where he plans to return to work Monday.
