Five agencies are dedicating extra patrols to targeting drunk driving beginning today and continuing Saturday as barbecues and parties are held to celebrate the July 4 holiday.
The Clark County Target Zero Taskforce is made up of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol, as well as the Vancouver, Battle Ground and Washougal police departments.
Target Zero is a statewide initiative to reduce the number of traffic fatalities to zero by 2030.
Last year marked the safest on Clark County roadways since 1955, according to a bulletin announcing the emphasis on curbing impaired driving.
The five agencies will coordinate their efforts over the weekend to cover ground throughout the region.
