MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A state law that takes effect Thursday is intended to make it tougher for teachers accused of sexual misconduct to find work elsewhere.
House Bill 2062 requires school districts to send a form to a job candidate’s three previous employers requesting disclosure of any past incidents of sexual misconduct. That includes cases in which a teacher agrees to resign in exchange for the district concealing his or her record.
School districts are bound by law to furnish the information within 20 days.
