A driver was accused of allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol after he detoured through a front lawn in the Burnt Bridge Creek neighborhood Thursday and crashed through a fence on the other side of the property.

Richard A. Easter, 40, of Vancouver was arrested following the crash at about 3:30 p.m. on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run, property damage.

Friday evening he was being held at the Clark County Jail in lieu of $750 bail.

At about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Easter drove his small black SUV through the front yard of a home near the intersection of Northeast 49th Street and Northeast 151st Avenue, according to a police report. His car nearly slid between a small gap and a storage building. It didn’t avoid contact entirely, clipping the storage building before smashing through the fence.

Easter was evaluated on scene by the Vancouver Fire Department and American Medical Response. A Vancouver Police Department test for driving under the influence of alcohol triggered his arrest.

There were no injuries reported.

A damage estimate was not available.
