The body of a 26-year-old Stevenson man missing since a June 25 rafting accident has been recovered from the Columbia River.

Jordan Jaco died after falling from a one-man raft near the boat launch at the Port of Skamania County in Stevenson. He was not wearing a life preserver.

Searchers mounted a rescue effort immediately, but no sign of Jaco was seen after he disappeared under the water.

His body was spotted about 12:30 p.m. Saturday by a recreational boater. It was recovered near Rooster Rock State Park, on the Oregon shore.

Multnomah County, Ore.’s marine patrol assisted the Skamania County marine unit in the recovery.
