Vancouver — Vancouver-based beer-malt maker Great Western Malting, a subsidiary of Australian grain handler GrainCorp Limited, said Monday it has purchased Portland-based Brewcraft USA for an undisclosed amount.

Great Western Malting, which supplies brewers in the U.S. and around the world, has 90 to 95 employees at its facility at the Port of Vancouver, where it’s been since 1934, according to Jay Hamachek, director of North American business development for the company. Brewcraft USA employs 15 people.

The acquisition allows Great Western Malting to move into home brewing, Brewcraft USA’s main focus, Hamcheck said.
