The annual Ho`ike and Hawaiian Festival celebrates Hawaiian culture with a variety of activities.

The fun includes live music, hula performances, food, vendors and cultural activities for children.

When: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

Where: Esther Short Park, West Eighth and Columbia streets, Vancouver.

The Ho`ike and Hawaiian Festival is one of several weekend entertainment options in Clark County and Portland. Others include festivals dedicated to blueberries and lavender, as well as an art exhibit at the White Sturgeon Art Gallery.

1. Blueberries feted at grist Mill

The Cedar Creek Grist Mill is hosting a Blueberry Festival today.

Those attending should show up hungry. Samples of blueberry pancakes with blueberry syrup will be dished up during the event.

The festival also will offer recipes for blueberry treats and information about where to pick blueberries.

2. Lavender at heart of festival in Battle Ground

Heisen House Vineyards is hosting a celebration of all things lavender. The Lavender Festival’s attractions include lavender craft demonstrations, lavender lotions, tips on cooking with lavender, music, entertainment, face painting, games, food and local products for sale.

When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

Admission: $5 suggested donation, $3 suggested donation for children 5-18.

3. Regional group showcases work

The High Fiber Diet arts group is showcasing a variety of works through Aug. 28 at the Water Resources Education Center’s White Sturgeon Art Gallery. The group, made up of artists from southern Washington and Oregon’s Willamette Valley, will display quilts that interpret landscapes and river scenes from a bird’s-eye view. Porcelain and stoneware by Washington artist Richard Roth will also be on display.

4. Rudd, Carell go to ‘Dinner for Schmucks’

Paul Rudd plays Tim, an up-and-coming executive who sees a chance to get a promotion in “Dinner for Schmucks,” in theaters this weekend. His character’s boss gives promotions to those who bring the biggest buffoons to monthly dinners. Tim meets the blundering Barry (Steve Carell) and decides to bring him to dinner. His plan backfires, threatening a major business deal and his engagement to his fiancee.

“Dinner for Schmucks” is rated PG-13.
