Oregon State right-handed pitcher Greg Peavey was selected by the New York Mets on Tuesday in the sixth round (182nd overall) of the 2010 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

This is the third time the Hudson’s Bay High School graduate has been drafted. Peavey was selected in the 24th round of the 2007 draft by the New York Yankees, and in the 32nd round of the 2009 draft by Houston.

Peavey just completed his junior year, in which he was named honorable mention All-Pacific-10 Conference and was twice Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week. He was second on the Beavers with six wins in 2010, going 6-3. He had a 3.64 earned run average in 15 appearances, all of which were starts.

Through three seasons at Oregon State, Peavey is 12-9 with a 4.57 ERA. He has appeared in 43 games, including 32 starts, and has worked 210⅔ innings, striking out 149 while opponents are hitting .270 against him.

Later in the draft, former Skyview standout Jeff Ames was selected by the Colorado Rockies.

Ames, who pitches for Lower Columbia College in Longview, was selected in the 30th round, 920th overall. Ames went 7-1 in the regular season with a 2.34 ERA. He struck out 83 batters in 61⅔ innings.

There are 20 rounds remaining in the draft.
