Moses Lake student awarded for tall ship service

ABERDEEN, Wash. (AP) — Graduating Moses Lake High School senior Elizabeth was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award for serving aboard the Aberdeen-based tall ship Lady Washington.

Since starting as a volunteer in August 2007 at age 16, she has completed more than 5,000 hours of community service aboard Washington’s official tall ship and the companion ship, Hawaiian Chieftain.

KITI reports Palmer has sailed to all major ports of the West Coast, participating in educational programs for students and the general public.
