ASHFORD, Wash. (AP) — More snow has fallen on Mount Rainier and Ranger Kevin Bacher (BOCK’-er) says the search for the body of an avalanche victim is on hold until the risk of more snowslides lessens.

He said Wednesday that climbing rangers don’t want to put others at risk in unstable conditions.

A 27-year-old Olympia man, Mark Wedeven, is presumed dead after he was apparently caught in Saturday’s avalanche. Ten other climbers who were caught in the slide made it out or were pulled from the snow.
