SEATTLE (AP) — The U.S. and Canadian air forces will practice intercepting aircraft next week off the coasts of the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Alaska.
Exercise Amalgam Dart will run Tuesday through Thursday and will involve aircraft from five states and Canada.
Air Force C-21 jets — a military version of the Learjet — will be intercepted by fighters from Oregon, Montana, Alaska and British Columbia. The jets will be scrambled by controllers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma and aided by an Airborne Warning and Control jet from Oklahoma and refueling planes from Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane.
