CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — A federal judge has sentenced a Cheyenne man to 21 years in prison for his role in providing the heroin that killed a professional bull rider and a young mother last year.
Judge William Downes sentenced 22-year-old Joel Murdoch on Thursday.
Murdoch was one of three Cheyenne men charged with conspiring to distribute the drugs that led to the December death of 21-year-old Cheyenne bull rider Bryan Guthrie and the death last summer of 20-year-old Valarie Anne Sena.
Murdoch apologized at sentencing to Guthrie’s parents and sister and said he deserved to go to prison.
Prosecutors say Murdoch and other men obtained heroin and cocaine in Denver. Federal authorities have charged other men with distributing the drugs.
