National Get Outdoors Day encourages families to explore fun and healthful activities in the outdoors.
The Water Resources Education Center is hosting a variety of activities in conjunction with the occasion. The event includes hands-on activities, presentations, and appearances from Smokey Bear and Ranger Rick.

1. Theater company puts a classic spin on Shakespeare
The Original Practice Shakespeare Festival will aim for authenticity with its latest production, “Much Adoe About Nothing.”
In the Shakespeare play, a pair of lovers due to be married conspire to trick their friends into confessing their love for each other.
The Original Practice Shakespeare Festival presents Shakespeare plays as they were originally performed in Shakespeare’s time — with limited rehearsal, an onstage prompter and using the original title.
When: 2 p.m. Sunday.
Where: Esther Short Park, West Eighth and Columbia streets, Vancouver.
One of the Portland Rose Festival’s marquee events, the Grand Floral Parade, makes its way through downtown Portland today.
The parade features 15 floral-covered floats, as well as marching bands, local dignitaries and drill teams. The grand marshal will be former Portland Trail Blazer Brian Grant.
Several Clark County high school marching bands will take part in the parade, including bands from Battle Ground High School, Prairie High School, Heritage High School and Columbia River High School.
When: 10 a.m. today.
Where: The parade starts at Memorial Coliseum, 1 Center Court, Portland, and heads into downtown Portland. A detailed map is available online.

The latest exhibit at the Portland Art Museum showcases work by comic book artist R. Crumb.
“The Bible Illuminated: R. Crumb’s Book of Genesis” opens today and continues through Sept. 19. The exhibit features the Book of Genesis as illustrated by R. Crumb. It includes more than 200 drawings that illustrate all 50 chapters that make up Genesis in the Bible.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays; and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
Where: 1219 S.W. Park Ave., Portland.
Admission: $12; $9 for seniors 55 and older and students 18 and older; free for children 17 and younger. Extra charge for some exhibits.

4. ‘A-Team’ makes leap from television to the big screen
“The A-Team,” based on the hit 1980s television series of the same name, arrives in theaters this weekend. The big screen adaptation follows a group of soldiers who were framed for a crime they didn’t commit.
The big-name cast includes Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson, Sharlto Copley and Jessica Biel.
