Educational Service District 112 seeks applicants to fill a seat on its board of directors.

Steve Wrightson, who is chief of Fire District 3, will step down this summer from his position on the seven-member ESD board. He has held the post since he was appointed in 2004, and has twice won elections.

The term for the nonpaid position expires in January 2012, at which time the officeholder may file for election to a four-year term.

Eligible applicants must be a registered voter and reside in District 3, which encompasses all of the Battle Ground and Hockinson school districts and the northwest corner of the Evergreen school district.

The Evergreen district portion is as follows:

From the Evergreen-Battle Ground district boundary at Northeast 78 Street and 72nd Avenue, east on Northeast 76th Street to 124th Avenue; then, south on 124th Avenue to Northeast Fourth Plain Road; east on Fourth Plain to Northeast 162nd Avenue; north on 162nd Avenue to Northeast Ward Road; then, northeast on Ward Road to the Hockinson district boundary.

Letters of interest in the position should be sent no later than July 30 to board president Darlene Stickel, 2500 N.E. 65th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98661.

The board plans to interview applicants during its Aug. 24 meeting.

ESD 112 will provide a packet of filing information, included needed forms, upon request from the administrative office.

Applicants must provide an application letter, including reasons for seeking the office; a résumé and data sheet describing related service and educational background; and a declaration and affidavit of eligibility.

ESD 112 is 40-year-old municipal corporation that provides information and cooperative services to 30 public school districts, 23 private schools and two state schools located in six Southwest Washington counties.

Those schools serve some 100,000 students and employ 15,000 workers.

ESD board members meet in public session at 3 p.m. on the Tuesday preceding the final Thursday of each month, at ESD headquarters in Vancouver.

For more questions on board duties and the opening, contact ESD 112 Superintendent Twyla Barnes, 360-750-7500.
