YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — The trial began Thursday in Yakima for two men accused of killing an 18-year-old Sunnyside man in a gang shooting.

Armondo Gonzalez Jr. of Sunnyside and Julian Williams of Grandview, both 19, are charged with murder in the November 2008 shooting of Eric Vargas in Sunnyside.

Police say the two suspects are gang members who were firing at another person when Vargas was hit as he sat in his car.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports Vargas was not a gang member.
