PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have recalled right-hander Joe Smith from Triple-A Columbus.
Smith appeared in nine games with Cleveland before he was sent down on April 30, going 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA. He was 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA in 20 relief appearances for the Clippers.
Smith takes the roster spot of left-hander David Huff, who was optioned to Columbus on Monday. Huff struggled in 13 starts for the Indians, going 2-9 with a 6.04 ERA.
Smith was promoted before Tuesday night’s game at Philadelphia.
