GLADSTONE, Ore. (AP) — A lifeguard managed to rescue a young male swimmer in trouble at High Rocks swimming hole on Oregon’s Clackamas River.
The rescue Thursday came just two days after a teen drowned at the spot.
The rescued swimmer says he suffered leg cramps in the cold water and couldn’t stay afloat.
Authorities warn that although the weather is warming, river conditions remain dangerous.
The Oregonian reported that 18-year-old Walter Dines died Tuesday after leaping into the river. It was the first drowning at High Rocks since lifeguards were posted there in 2002.
