Eleven firefighters worked to find and help a woman who was injured after falling from her horse near La Center on Sunday afternoon.

The rescue happened about 2 p.m., said Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy.

The woman was riding in the 29300 block of Northeast Timmen Road, and was in woods along the East Fork of the Lewis River.

Her injuries made it impossible for her to get back on her horse, Dawdy said.

It took firefighters about an hour to find the woman and another hour to get her to an ambulance, Dawdy said. She was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital.

Dawdy did not release her name, citing privacy laws. He said he was not sure of the woman’s age.

“Our firefighters have been intensely training during the spring to respond to remote rescue calls like this,” Dawdy said.
