DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — Police in Senegal say 11 people died after the collapse of a terrace on which they had gathered to watch a World Cup match on television.

Police said the collapse happened as the people were watching the Saturday afternoon matchup between Uruguay and Korea. A police official said Sunday there may still be people trapped in the rubble of the building in Matam, in northern Senegal.

Soccer is eagerly followed in the West African nation, and the streets of the capital, Dakar, were thronged with revelers after Ghana triumphed over the U.S. by 2-1 in a later match on Saturday night.
