SEATTLE (AP) — A 38-year-old Seattle man has died while hiking in the Cascades Mountains near Snoqualmie Pass.

Sgt. John Urquhart (URK’-hart) of the King County Sheriff’s Department says the man, whose name has not been released, appears to have fallen to his death down a steep slope on the trail to Mason Lake.

The man had been reported missing by his sister on Tuesday, after he did not return from a one-day camping trip. His body was recovered by a sheriff’s office helicopter on Wednesday afternoon.
