NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are set to rise, providing some relief at the end of an otherwise dreary quarter that saw major indexes plunge.

Disappointing economic reports, including continued high levels of unemployment, and fears of a possible second recession in Europe have spooked investors.

Wednesday’s gains in stock futures come before a payroll company is expected to report hiring by private companies climbed slightly in June. ADP’s report is often used as a gauge for the Labor Department’s big monthly employment report.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 46, or 0.5 percent, at 9,843. Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures are up 6.20, or 0.6 percent, at 1,041.50, while Nasdaq 100 index futures are up 10.25, or 0.6 percent, at 1,773.75.
