Prosecutors have issued a warrant of first-degree attempted murder for a Vancouver man accused of stabbing a man early Monday at a Southeast 84th Court home.

Joshua Michael Stranz, 28, was being held in the Multnomah County Jail without bail this morning.

Stranz is accused of stabbing 40-year-old Michael Osborne multiple times with a steak knife just after 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The warrant filed late Monday in Clark County Superior Court reveals that Stranz and Osborne had been in an intimate relationship. The two had met up at the home and ate cake together. Afterward, Stranz gave Osborne a back massage, but then started allegedly choking him and stabbing him, according to the affidavit.

When Vancouver police officers responded, Stranz had already left. Osborne told investigators that he thought Stranz allegedly attacked him because Osborne “sent him to prison a couple years ago,” according to the affidavit.

Stranz was sentenced in 2006 to 43 months in prison for second-degree robbery and second-degree theft, court records show. Information on how Osborne was involved in the case wasn’t immediately available.

Stranz was released from custody on Jan. 13.

Clark County Senior Deputy Prosecutor John Fairgrieve said this morning it was too soon to tell when Stranz would be extradited to Clark County.
