The city of Battle Ground is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies on its civil service commission.

The commission oversees certain employment and personnel matters for the Battle Ground Police Department. The primary focus of the three-person commission is to ensure all pre-employment testing and hiring decisions are done in a fair, valid, competitive and nondiscriminatory manner. The commission may also preside over appeals involving employee discipline.

Selected volunteers serve six-year terms. The terms for the two vacant positions expire this December and December 2013. The commission meets monthly during the evening and may meet more often if needed.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, registered voters and current Battle Ground residents who have lived in the city for at least three years. Applications are available at City Hall, 109 S.W. First Ave., on the city Web site, www.cityofbg.org, and by calling 342-5004.

For additional information, call Civil Service Examiner Claire Lider at 342-5008.
