SEATTLE (AP) — King County prosecutors have charged a 49-year-old Seattle man with first-degree animal cruelty after he allegedly tried to kill his dog with a hammer.
Charging papers filed Monday in Superior Court say Kirk D. Frazier told animal control investigators that he did not intend for the animal to suffer, but just wanted to kill the dog after it bit his wife and attacked the family’s other dog on Sept. 14.
Court papers say Frazier tried to beat the dog to death at his home, but it survived. He then allegedly took it to work along with a hammer where he hit it several times. Co-workers called police and the dog escaped. It later was found by a woman, taken to a veterinarian and euthanized.
