INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Devoe Joseph made two 3s during a 10-0 overtime run and scored 17 points to lead Minnesota past No. 11 Michigan State 72-67 in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals Friday night.

The Gophers (20-12) meet No. 6 Purdue in Saturday’s semifinals. The Boilermakers beat Northwestern 69-61 earlier Friday.

Raymar Morgan had 23 points to lead Michigan State (24-8), which played without guard Chris Allen. He was suspended for the game by coach Tom Izzo for “not meeting responsibilities to his teammates.”

The Spartans went on a late 7-0 run to force overtime, and both teams had a chance to win it in the final 5 seconds. But Lucas lost the ball out of bounds with 3.9 seconds to go and Joseph’s desperation heave was off the mark.

Joseph made amends later, starting the decisive run with his 3. Minnesota built a 65-58 lead and sealed the win with free throws.
