New Web search tallies crime in neighborhoods

The Columbian
Published: March 12, 2010, 12:00am

Current crime rates and statistics are available for each neighborhood in Clark County at http://www.columbian.com/datacenter/crime_stats.

The feature contains more details than the crime rates that were published in The Columbian’s Portrait magazine Feb. 28. Web site visitors can select from about 100 neighborhoods and scroll down to see how many crimes of each type, such as burglary, were reported for the neighborhood last year.

The data also might be of interest to those who are considering buying a home — or trying to sell one — in a certain area.

Neighborhoods typically include many subdivisions. To learn which neighborhood a home is in, call 360-487-8608 for those within Vancouver city limits; or 360-397-6012, ext. 5, for addresses in unincorporated Clark County.

The data for both areas comes from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
