A&M and Gonzaga set for 2nd meeting of season

SEATTLE (AP) — When Gary Blair took Texas A&M to Las Vegas in December, the folksy Aggies coach brought back a few memories: he lost at the tables and his team won two important games.

Unknown at the time, Blair also got some major help in scouting. One of the Aggies victories in Vegas was an 80-76 win over Gonzaga.

And now the second-seeded Aggies (26-7) are about to see the No. 7 seed Bulldogs again on Monday night in the second round of the NCAA women’s tournament. Gonzaga (28-4) has not lost since falling to the Aggies, rolling off 19 straight.

Blair has nothing but the highest regard for the Bulldogs, saying Gonzaga would finish in the top-4 of any power conference in college hoops. He also believes Monday night will be a high-scoring track meet with neither team likely able to slow down a pair of powerful offenses.
