LOS ANGELES (AP) — Olympic champion Nastia Liukin has a new endorsement deal for clothing — and it’s not for leotards.

The all-around gymnastics gold medalist will sell a line under her “Supergirl by Nastia” brand at JCPenney. The inexpensively priced clothes will be geared for girls 8-12 and go on sale in July.

The deal, announced Monday, is considered a breakthrough for a world-class gymnast. In the past, most gymnasts’ long-term endorsement opportunities have been largely limited to gymnastics apparel and equipment.

The Supergirl brand is based on the DC Comics character who is Superman’s younger cousin. It also sponsored this month’s inaugural Nastia Liukin Cup, a televised meet for gymnasts just below the elite level.
