Rain, blustery wind kickoff week

Wet. Windy. Welcome back, Pacific Northwest.

The forecast calls for rain and wind today, with gusts of up to 28 mph.

The gusts were powerful enough to knock down trees, including a 50-foot tall tree in Vancouver that narrowly missed two parked cars and a house, according to emergency police dispatch logs.

The tree damaged a fence and pulled down a power line, causing about an hour-long outage at about 3 a.m. The house was located in the 3600 block of Northwest Grant Street.

The weeklong forecast looks like one big, extended rainstorm. Lightning is predicted Tuesday.
