TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) — A spokesman for Taiwan’s China Airlines says a flight from the Taiwanese capital of Taipei to the Chinese city of Shanghai was diverted after a passenger told cabin crew his luggage contained explosives.

Bruce Chen says the plane landed safely Saturday in the Chinese city of Hangzhou and Chinese authorities took the passenger away for questioning.

Chen says the passenger is surnamed Lin and that he was traveling on a U.S. passport.
