Biwott, Moreira win Sao Paulo marathon

SAO PAULO (AP) — Stanley Biwott of Kenya and Marizete Moreira of Brazil have won the Sao Paulo marathon.

Biwott won the men’s race in 2 hours, 11 minutes, 21 seconds Sunday and led a Kenyan 1-2-3 finish. Jonathan Kosgei crossed the line 54 seconds behind and Philipp Biwott was third.

Biwott was among the front runners throughout and took the lead with about two miles to go.

Moreira won her second consecutive women’s race in Sao Paulo, finishing in 2:39:26. Margaret Okayo of Kenya was 57 seconds behind and Adriana Aparecida of Brazil was third.
