Police searching for armed convenience store robber

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating the armed robbery of a 7-11 convenience store, where a man early this morning demanded money and lottery tickets from a store clerk and fled.

Police responded to the armed robbery at 4:40 a.m., according to a news bulletin. The suspect fled the store in a vehicle, unknown description. The store clerk told police the man was carrying a large handgun.

A K-9 unit was activated to search for the man but called off when police viewed security footage and realized the man had left the store in an automobile.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, dressed in a gray and black thigh-length coat, a black hood bordered by red-fur, jeans and black shoes.

The 7-11 is located at 12113 N.E. Fourth Plain Boulevard.

Detectives in the department are handling the case.
