WASHINGTON (AP) — The Florida Marlins have designated Mike Lamb for assignment and purchased the contract of outfielder Bryan Petersen from Triple-A New Orleans.
The team announced the moves Friday before the start of a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.
The 34-year-old Lamb hit .222 (4 for 18) with three RBIs in 18 games. He was 4 for 15 with three RBIs as a pinch hitter.
Florida has 10 days to waive, trade or release Lamb, who was signed as a minor league free agent on Feb. 11.
Petersen was hitting .290 with one homer and nine RBIs at New Orleans. The 24-year-old had at least one hit in 22 of his 26 games.
