PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates activated right-hander Ross Ohlendorf off the 15-day disabled list and started him against the Cincinnati Reds.
To make room for Ohlendorf, Pittsburgh designated right-handed reliever Brian Bass for assignment on Monday. Bass was 0-0 with a 12.79 ERA in three games, allowing nine earned runs in 6 1/3 innings.
Ohlendorf, an 11-game winner last season, hadn’t pitched since giving up three runs in five innings of a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 7. He did not figure in the decision.
