HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Former Marshall wide receiver Troy Brown, who went on to a long career with the New England Patriots, has been elected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

A return specialist for Marshall in the early 90s, Brown is to be inducted in July in South Bend, Ind.

He was a member of Marshall’s 1992 Division I-AA championship team. He scored 28 career touchdowns, including four on special teams.

A year ago, he retired after 14 NFL seasons, all with the Patriots.

Brown is the fifth Marshall player or coach to be selected to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Brown is among four players and two coaches in this year’s divisional class, which includes players and coaches from the Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA.
